I recommend this book to people who like a funny story. Jump on the world's highest trampoline, toast marshmallows in an active volcano, swim in the chocolate waterfall, pat baby dinosaurs, go head-to-trunk with the Trunkinator, break out your best moves on the dance floor, fly in a jet-propelled swivel chair, ride a terrifying rollercoaster and meet Professor Stupido, the world's greatest UN-inventor. Maybe I could un-invent something just like in the book or create a 39 story treehouse. As I read this book, I had a lot of thoughts on it. For example, it does not have ninja snails and does not have as many stories to it's treehouse as the other stories do. This book is part of a series but in many ways it is different from the other books. Next thing you know there is a chair that has lasers glued onto it! Also there is some stinky but yummy place named Cheese Land. For example, the frogpotamus eats Andy’s ice cream, some guy un-invented himself and the galaxy, and an egg car comes in that hovers in the air. The story unfolds at a leisurely pace, with lots of pauses to unspool smaller story lines. I love this book so much because there are all of these funny parts. Parents need to know that The 39-Story Treehouse is packed with the same kind of silly storytelling that fueled the previous two books in Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton's Treehouse Books series. Big Nose tells them their deadline and it is the next day in the afternoon! So Terry invents a cool machine named the once upon-a-pon-a-time machine to help them catch up to their dateline! But oh no! The machine goes crazy and they need someone to fix it. I think teachers and librarians will particularly delight in this book, as it gives kids a fun example of how a book comes together.I am looking forward to the next instalment and highly recommend it for ages 7-10.Reviewed for Creative Kids Tales by Julie Grasso. I especially liked the way plot points were mentioned as part of how the machine makes a book, and they were all included as the story unfolded. It is packed with funny characters and as the writers self-confess, no moral lesson whatsoever. It is a relatively easy read, which I believe will be great to gain the attention of reluctant readers or anyone who loves a crazy adventure. The boys prevail in the end and thankfully, there will be more floors and fun filled adventures. This was a face paced, hoot of a book that will surely keep kids entertained with the fun illustrations. An invention that the professor knew nothing about or he would have un-invented it. Except he keeps un-inventing everything the guys hold dear, or find particular helpful for the survival of the human race. They keep their wits about them, and manage to outwit the pesky un-inventing professor, with the help of their trusty spooncil. If he can un-invent the “Once upon a time machine,’ everything will go back to the way it is. The boys enlist Professor Stupido, the world’s best un-inventor, who comes along to save the day. : The 39-Story Treehouse: Mean Machines & Mad Professors (The Treehouse Books, 3): 9781250026927: Griffiths, Andy, Denton, Terry: Books Books Children's Books Activities, Crafts & Games Try Prime and start saving today with Fast, FREE Delivery Buy new: 9.99 List Price: 15.99 Details Save: 6. more it locks them out of their very own tree house.Never fear, help is at hand. Well, things don’t quite go to plan when the machine decides it can write a better book than Andy and Terry, and. It had nobs and buttons for every plot device, character generator and action maker you can think of, and the guys decide it’s even more innovative than hot ice cream. Terry answers, ‘It’s a once upon a time machine, of course.’A machine capable of writing an entire book, with absolutely no effort on Andy and Terry’s part. Readers can expect loads more absurd antics and fun filled adventures and the 39th floor doesn’t disappoint. When Terry reveals possibly the best invention in the history of the universe, Andy is of course completely baffled as to what it is. Review 1: Andy and Terry have added another 13 storey’s to their already fantastical tree house.
